Follow your heart

Before I share my card, I want to congratulate ATSM on their 2nd birthday. If you haven't player for them yet, you should go and play over, it is a fun challenge with different themes.
And Kylie from ATSM has created a craft forum called "Happy Little Stampers"for us crafters, do go and check it out here it is awesome, I bet you will find many inspirations there as there are tutorials too!

On to the card now...sharing a very simple card which I made yesterday evening. I kept a few challenges in my mind while making this one, I had just used different colored inks to create the design for this card, and added a square panel with Stamplorations  (subway art builder) sentiment on it.

Posting this card to the

I had used 4 colors from the color palette as suggested, and also included banner on the top 3 rows.

I am pretty much sticking to the sketch, with the exception of adding a square panel for the sentiment.

Here is another beautiful picture from Taheerah, and I had just used the colors as my inspiration.

Masculine & Feminine

Quick share of 2cards.

The first one is a father's day card. I wanted to use only white card stock for this. Added a ribbon, a chipboard yacht. Used 2 different stamps for stamping the sentiment with 3 inks.A very simple masculine card.

I had used a ribbon, and didn't use any kraft color as stated in the challenge, and kept it CAS.

used a yacht as the transport.

Used a yacht, and plenty of nautical colors too.

For the second too I had used white card stock. I hand cut the flower stencil for this card. Masked the panel and added the flowers and leaves around. I added some details on the flowers and leaves, using a gel pen. Finally added a bold sentiment to finish off.

I was inspired by the sketch layout, used some flowers and leaves similar to the muse card, but chose a white card stock instead of a kraft colored.

Interlocking hearts

A super simple card with interlocking hearts. I made it as a wedding anniversary card,  and for me weddings are pure. I wanted to bring that purity on my card too. I chose white on white. Die cut the hearts, added the double sided tape before die cutting,  so that it's easy to add silver and red glitter later. This is one of the best ways to add glitter,  and  it sticks pretty well to the tape and doesn't fall off.
Used foam adhesive on the front panel and also on the hearts to give a dimension to the card.
I added a very simple sentiment as it is the hearts which have to do the talking here :)
I am very pleased with this card!

The sun is shining so brightly here that I changed the side for the picture to get the reflection on the glitter, which is very evident here.

A close up on the interlocking hearts.

A bookmark

This is my first ever bookmark,  I am not into tags. I made it for my kids,  both are voracious readers, and I am crazy about books too. My home is like a books galore! I can never walk out of a bookstore empty handed,  and both my kids know my weakness....lol

Just editing to add this, I gave this tag to my daughter when she got home from school, and she said, "Just a tag?, it would be nice to give it along with a book....hahaaa just kidding mama!".

Ok onto the bookmark now. I used the face paints yet again to create the scene.
Colored black and smoothed out with baby wipes. Used red and yellow to create the sunset scene. Then added white paint and smudged it with finger to fade the colors a bit.
For the tree, I used my daughter's Chinese calligraphy brush, again! Just ignore the person I drew ;)
And the quote,  I wrote it myself. I know I don't really have a fancy writing,  but the message is what is important and my kids will appreciate the words more than the writing.
Recycled a ribbon for the tag.
I cannot believe it but it took me more time to make this bookmark than a card.

Material I recycled:
Scrap papers
face paints
ribbon
calligraphy brush

The face paints I used, these are lying around my home for years and no one using it.

Finally, this is how you actually use a Chinese calligraphy brush - to write the Chinese characters(if anyone is wondering ).
This is my daughter's work, she made it for me... she likes to doodle around a lot..... if you focus, you can see what it means, she wrote it in English too.
It says "I love you" :)

An experiment

Today I sat down to experiment with an idea,  which crawled into my head yesterday night. I had used face paints on one of my cards. The ones I have at home are very similar to gelatos, so I just used those instead of gelatos.
I chose red, blue and yellow face paint to randomly rub on my card front, then I used a baby wipe to smooth out the face paints. Added the honeycomb stencil and went in to rub off the paint with a baby wipe. I like the effect very much!
Chose the stamps from STAMPlorations, and used a calligraphy pen to draw irregular border.

half of the panel is smoothed out

I do so many techniques, I could have shared some cards if i knew earlier... I didn't know about this blog until Kimberly mentioned - Thank you Kimberly :) !

-------------------------------------------------------------

The second card is also made using the STAMPlorations stamps, for this I started inking the panel with various colors, then added my panel on a black card stock to give a border, and stamped the sentiment to finish off.

Unlike my previous entry, this time I chose only the colors from the picture.

I gave a black border for my front panel.

And finally a personal picture to share, if you had read my yesterday's post you will know my daughter got some award in the morning. This one was in the night, my darling son got a medal for his soccer, they finished 2nd at a tournament earlier this year. He  is a star player of the school soccer team, plays center forward, and he was the top scorer with the most goals :), and the team traveled to China for 5 days for this tournament.. A few more days of school left, and its always a treat see the kids getting some recognition.

2 Cards

First some good news to share,  yesterday morning I got an email from my daughter's teacher saying that she is going to get an award at her school(Outstanding Achievement in English), and I had to keep it a secret from her till today. I know right!!! but I did it without any stomachache ;)
In the night saw my card on the HM at CASology, I was very very happy to made it in 2 consecutive weeks as HM.
Today while I was going to the awards ceremony,  my hubby gave me something,  and I was sooooo very happy to see it.  It was a mail from Shery from STAMPlorations.
Yay! I got the stamp set I won at their blog hop :D

Shery sent me this beautiful card too! Thank you so much Shery! You made my day :)

So I made a card ASAP, had used only part of the stamp, will definitely use it as a whole sometime soon.
Chose a textured vanilla card stock,  added a vertical checkered strip and some flowers and a tiny butterfly.

A close up

Adding this card to the STAMPlorations biweekly challenge.

The second card - I made this one yesterday but didn't have time to share it. I made it on request, and the person wanted me to use the sentiment, and its a beautiful sentiment. The colors were requested too, to use plenty of purples. I chose my handmade flower stencil for this, I am loving this stencil very much. for me this card has a very pleasant summery look, with all these subtle flowers.

I am adding this card to the TIME OUT challenge.

And finally, a picture of my darling daughter with her achievement!
