Lobia ~ black eyed beans vadas

Sharing a very simple and yummy recipe.  This dish is full of protein and fiber. Made using whole black eyed beans. I bet yes I do :D, once you eat this you are going to be completely bowled over by this dish. I made it just 2 days back for my friends, and they liked it very much!

You will need:

1. 1/2 cup black eyed beans(soak for 4-5 hours)

2.  Drain the soaked beans and keep aside in the strainer for 15 minutes so that all the water is drained.
Once all the water is drained, blend it with some salt, do not make it to a smooth paste. don't add any extra water.
I use a handheld mincer to do this, the texture is just right.

3. Finely chop 1 medium sized onion, 2 g.chilies, a few curry leaves, some fresh coriander leaves and a tiny bit of ginger. add all the chopped veggies to the above blended beans and mix well. adjust the salt if needed.

4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan, once medium hot it is ready. Take about a lime sized bean paste in your hand and squeeze it gently to form a ball, flatten this slightly and add to the oil. Frying turning sides, till it is brown, careful not to make them too brown.

Serve hot, i serve it with Indian tea. You can eat it plain too, no ketchup or sauce is needed.

Hope you try and enjoy this simple dish.

Wish Big

Made this super simple masculine card.
Used some die cut circles of various sizes, a birthday greeting and topped it up with a bold sentiment. used a silver glitter gel pen to add conjoining circles.
Didn't feel the need to add anything else to it.

Double slider boy card

Sharing a very different card. It is a boy card. I make lots of children cards, that's how I got hooked into card making - making cards for my son and daughter. This card needs tons of patience!!
I make double slider cards but not that often. My usual ones have two panels sliding out, so that you can write on both ends.
But this one is a modified design suggested by my darling SON. He asked me to create a pocket to put the gift money in one of the panels. It did make sense,  write a message on one side and put your gift money on the other side.
To add up, I created a spinning panel on the front,  and put up a car. Worked with grey color to give a road feel.
It came out good but not sure if want to try a complicated project again.
All the embellishments including the car are stickers as I am entering for a sticker themed challenge.

The panels.

Once fully pulled open, the card increases in length by three times! Need to push in either one or  both the sides to close.

Added a neon hand sticker to indicate the 'pull' sign.

Spring -shaker card

Continuing with my white color theme, but added the spring elements to it.
Used Bazzill's petty cash green against the white card stock and a green designer paper background. Used the same colors to make the shaker box. It was a challenging card today, as I don't have the die cuts for the oval frame.  I had manually cut all 3 different panels of the shaker part using scissors and paper cutter.
Stamped the sentiment on the designer paper,  added some blue and golden sequins for the shaker effect.
A white floral bloom on the frame,  and three blooms on the top.
A multi colored inside to finish up.

A close up at the shaker box.

The inside.

Saxophone birthday wishes

A masculine CAS card, used the Saxophone cut out from the Essentials. Sponged the card with blue and brown pigment inks respectively. Sponged a silvery glittery ink on the blue ink. A matching twine, Some punched musical notes, and added the sentiment on the die cut panel.

A closer look at the silver glittery ink, its barely visible though!

Hyderabadi Dum Chicken Biryani

Sharing a very special recipe - dum biryani,  one of the most delicious dishes and a must have one too. If you love Indian food, you are going to enjoy each and every bite of this!
This dish is a bit time consuming, but worth spending that time.

You will need :

Step 1:

Bayleaf - 2 leaves
Cloves - 2
Cinnamon stick - 1"
Black cardamom -1
Green cardamom -1
Mace -1 floret

Ground these spices roughly, and keep aside.

Step 2:

Chicken( bone/boneless) - 750gms
Yogurt - 1 cup
R.chili powder - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Cummin powder - 3/4 tsp
Coriander powder -3/4 tsp
Ginger +Garlic paste - 2TBsp
Salt to taste
Fresh mint leaves - 1/4 cup
Fresh coriander leaves -1/4 cup
G.chili - 3
Lime juice - 1TBsp
Oil - 3 TBsp

Mix all the ingredients together,  add the above ground spice mix too. Marinate this chicken mix for at least 5-6 hours.  I usually leave it overnight.

Step 3 :

2 cups - basmati rice washed and soaked
5-6 cups - water to cook rice
Salt to taste
Oil - 1/2 TBsp
Shahjeera~ caraway seeds - 1/2 tsp
Bayleaf - 1
a pinch of saffron soaked in 1TBsp milk
Finely Sliced onion - 1 big

fry the onions in the oil till golden brown and keep aside.

Procedure:

1. Take a big pot to cook the rice in. Add water, salt, caraway seeds, and bayleaf and bring to boil.

Now add rice, and cook the rice till it is half done.
Drain the rice.

2. Take another big heavy bottom pot to assemble the biryani together.
Spread the marinated chicken mix at the bottom of the pot, sprinkle some fried onions over it.

3. Add the rice and spread evenly and sprinkle the rest of the onions over the rice.
Sprinkle the saffron milk over the rice.

4. Seal the pot's lid with wheat dough, this is to secure the pot so that the steam remains in.

5. Cook for 10 minutes on high flame, 15 minutes on medium flame(to the lower side), and the last 15 minutes on the lowest flame. If you have a thick iron griddle, it is perfect to transfer the pot over it on the heat for the last 15 minutes, this ensures that there is very little heat and you don't have to worry about the dish getting burnt.
Turn off the heat, and let the pot stand for at least 15 minutes before you open it. The chicken will be cooked to perfection, juicy and tender with all the flavours from the spices.
you may either go ahead and mix it, or the best way is to scoop it out from the bottom to top, you will see the colored layered, I forgot to click a picture of this part.
Serve it with any curry. I had served with Bagara baigan, raita, and Dalcha.

Go ahead and try this yummy dish.

Thank you ~ distressed edges

Off lately white is the color I am working with the most. Used purple, green, and yellow ink  to distress the edges of different sections of the card.
Added a purple paper lace and purple dash lines, and a flowery embellishment to finish up. A very clean and super simple card.

A closer look at all the 3 distressed edges.

This is awesome!

Had this pattern paper for a long time, never used before. I just added the lacy ribbon to match the paper, and a jam jar. I made it as an invite card, I don't know how many people still give cards to their friends for tea or lunch invitations( I personally use whatsapp to do this ;) )
I am sure, I will put this card to a good use.
