A super simple card.
Used a very light pink card stock for the base and embossed the white card stock using zebra stripes.
And sponged a candle, a very clean and simple look.

I had done some sponging using a very light hand along the edges of the embossing, it is barely visible.

Another thank you card

Yet another thank you card, chose some different colors than usual.  Used Heidi Swapp's honeycomb stencil for this card,  and did sponging with the pigment inks using two alternating colors.
The sentiment is computer generated, as I made it for someone. Added a glittering butterfly and few rhinestones to finish off the card.

Back to cards after a week long break. The kiddos were on a week long school trip, so hubby and I took this golden opportunity and went on a holiday, it was nice to be in sun after along time, and to see clear blue skies. 

My daughter went to Taiwan for her school trip, and she bought me some punches and stamps. I am sure she wanted to see me using the stuff she got. So this is for my darling little girl. Love you so much!

Bagara baingan ~ eggplant

Bagara baingan is one of the most yummiest side dish to be served with a biryani. This dish comes from my hometown Hyderabad. 

The sauce is made using peanuts, coconut and sesame seeds, and it is rich and tangy.

Without any further delay lets look at how to make it.

Ingredients:

Small round eggplants - 10-12
Finely sliced onion -1 medium
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Tomato chopped -1 big
Tomato paste - 1/4cup
Tamarind soaked- 1TBsp
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
G.chili slit - 2
R.chili powder - 2tsp
Turmeric - 1/2tsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2tsp

Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Salt to taste
Oil 1/2Tbsp
Oil for shallow frying eggplants - 3-4 TBsp

Gravy spices:
Coconut powder - 2TBsp
Roasted peanuts - 2TBsp
Roasted sesame seeds - 1 1/2 TBsp
Cloves - 2
Cinnamon stick - 1/2"
Ginger- garlic paste - 2tsp

Blend everything together with little water to make a fine paste.

 

Procedure:
Make x slit on the eggplants, and cut along keeping the eggplant intact. Keep the stock, it will help to hold the eggplant together.
Heat oil for shallow frying the eggplants, fry till the eggplants are bit soft and change color. Drain on a kitchen towel.

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, curry leaves, onion, and g.chili and saute till onions are light brown.

 Add the blended spice mix. To this add R.chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, coriander powder and salt.

 

Stir till the oil separates from the paste. Now add chopped tomato and the tomato pulp and cook till the tomatoes are soft.

Add the eggplants and mix well and cover the pot for few minutes.

Mash up the tamarind in water and drain the pulp and add the water to the eggplants.

 

Add some more water and cover the pot for about 10 minutes, occasionally stirring the dish.

Once the gravy is reduced to a bit turn off the heat. Remember to keep the gravy bit flowing as it will get thick as it gets cold. Garnish with some fresh coriander leaves.

Make and enjoy this yummy dish with the Vegetable Pulao !

Gorgeous green

 Amidst of packing and getting things ready, this color palette was on my mind and I had all the colors to work with. Macau is not a great destination for card making supplies like stamps, ink or anything related to it. So most of the cards I make are usually with card stock. So I work my way around paper and see how I can make use of what is available here to make cards.
Went to Hongkong recently to get some supplies like stamps and sentiments, so time to put those things to a good use now!

Sponged Candles ~ birthday card

Another sponged card, a super simple card.
I love all the colors in here. I use purple a lot, but never used it with a yellow before. Very satisfied with the finished look.

Black and White ~ funny sentiments

I absolutely loved working with these two colors. I have designer paper from Authentique, which are all in black and white.  This particular paper caught my eye and I couldn't get it off my hands.

So this is what I had come up with, another diagonal striped card. A bit different from my previous diagonal cards. I just love diagonals soooooo much.

 

The sentiments are from "Words to the Rescue", funny sentiments!!
